Meet the Instructor!
Tiffany is an American Mahjong instructor serving players throughout the Greater Phoenix area. As a Champion of Destination Mahjong’s 3-Day Tournament and an avid tournament player, Tiffany brings both teaching experience and real-world competitive play to every lesson. Her approach is practical, strategic, and focused on what actually works at the table, helping players build confidence, sharpen their decision-making, and play a stronger game.
Mahjong 101 ~ For the Complete Beginner
For the complete beginner. By the end of your class, you will have learned the basics of how to play American Mahjong. You will understand:
- How to set up the tiles to start the game
- How to identify all 152 Mahjong tiles.
- How to read the National Mah Jongg League Card including colors & numbers
- The Charleston ~ the ins and outs of passing
- Choosing a section on the NMJL card, identifying your strongest hand and how to call tiles for exposures and Mahjong!
Mahjong 102 ~ Playing with Guidance
Guided Play is the perfect next step after completing Mahjong 101, where everything starts to click through real game experience.
In this session, you’ll play a full game of Mahjong with supportive, hands-on guidance every step of the way. Think of it as your practice playground—where questions are encouraged, mistakes are part of the process, and confidence grows naturally. You’ll get comfortable with the flow of the game, including passing during the Charleston, picking and discarding tiles, calling for tiles, and making exposures.
With gentle coaching and real-time feedback, Guided Play helps turn what you’ve learned into instinct. By the end, you won’t just understand the game—you’ll feel ready to sit down and play with ease.
